The Hidden Dangers of Air Pollution That You Cannot See
This cannot be smelled. This cannot be seen. However, there is air pollution happening in the cities of Maryland, particularly for those who are older than 65 years old. These air pollutants known as PM2.5 which are extremely tiny and are emitted from vehicles, power plant emissions, and boilers have become potent enough to evade the protection of the lungs and to go straight into your blood stream. It is reported to cause reduced lung functions, arrhythmias, heart attacks, and even stroke. According to “State of the Air 2025” of the American Lung Association, Maryland counties scored poorly on air quality, with its ozone smog and fine particulate pollution scores declining from the previous year. All pollution indexes have gotten worse in the Washington-Baltimore region.
It is hard to detect air pollutants that you cannot see. The reason behind it is that there will be no indication that air pollution had happened. However, the consequences accumulate without you realizing that something has already happened. Seniors are more vulnerable to the effects of air pollution and Baltimore City’s seniors in particular, since this has affected their lives here in the city.
